Public Sector Investment Forum

Karen Clarke | Nov 30, 2020

We were proud to sponsor a forum at the Sofitel this month, which was attended by around 50 people from across the public sector. Our guest speakers included Lara Ariell, Director, Enterprise Support Service Optimisation at IR (and CFO of the Year) and Craig Murphy, Manager, Investment Management and Asset Performance (IMAP) from The Treasury. Karen Tregaskis also offered her views on whether the traditional EPMO construct is delivering value to organisations. Several themes emerged:

  • If there is no money, it's time to think what we can do, with what we have.
  • How do we re-use what we already have (capability, tools, processes) instead of trying to invent 'new'?
  • Investment management is a system which needs its component parts to be integrated, to be truly effective.

Craig also talked about the review of the Investor Confidence Rating (ICR) and what's next for agencies in terms of the detailed plan, what to expect and when. After the presentations, guests had the opportunity to talk with speakers in the very pleasant conference facilities at the Sofitel on Bolton St, and network over a glass of wine.
