As 2022 draws closer so does Tregaskis Brown to their 20th birthday! It’s definitely been a journey but you know what they say, time flies when you’re having fun. With the business reaching ‘adulthood’ we took the opportunity to sit down and reminisce about how Tregaskis Brown came to be!
When Karen Tregaskis and Tracy Brown joined forces in 2002 they were passionate about their goals to provide expert support to the public sector and to help lift performance and achieve better outcomes for all New Zealanders. Almost twenty years on, that passion to serve and support still drives everything the company does.
Starting from a partnership born of the lonely world of sole contractors, Karen and Tracy decided to create something different. From small beginnings – putting together their first pitch in a local café – they quite quickly added to the team and put down more solid foundations within New Zealand’s capital city, Wellington. There have been many challenges along the way. As much as they loved their work as Consultants, they were not oblivious to the fact that Consultants have a less than perfect perception within the business community.
They wanted to create a consultancy firm with a difference; one that delivers pragmatic and individualised solutions while maintaining high ethical standards and always placing the client’s success before themselves. Relationships matter to them – a lot - and always will, this is demonstrated practically throughout their business with the team that pitches always being the team that delivers. With Tregaskis Brown what you see is what you get.
Early on in their business journey, the founders were challenged by a mentor to provide a guarantee for their work. They took up that challenge and to this day any work Tregaskis Brown completes is done under a money-back guarantee, testimony to the company’s dedication to seeing their values in action.
Over the last twenty years, the company has evolved, grown and changed. But at its heart, Tregaskis Brown has stayed true to the passion of its founders, living their purpose, with a great team of people that support New Zealand’s public sector to be the best it can be.
